Details is from TOP1 Oil Company Website

What Types of Engine Oil Are Available??

There are 3 types of engine oil commonly available to us. They are
  • Mineral
: Based on oil from mother earth that has been refined. An engine oil for older cars, it provides basic protection. Not recommended for modern vehicles.
  • Part synthetic
: Part or semi-synthetic oils are mixed with mineral oils to create a good in-between oil, cost and performance wise. Better engine protection and performance than standard mineral oil.
  • Fully synthetic
: Completely synthetic oils provide the ultimate protection in extreme conditions. They perform well under high and low temperatures, where other oils can break down or thicken. As they offer optimum lubrication they help reduce wear.

The life of your engine depends in no small part on the quality of the oil you put in it – oil is its lifeblood. Your engine needs the right amount to keep it running smoothly while avoiding any expensive repairs.

What does Engine Oil do for you?

Your engine oil performs many functions. It stops all the metal surfaces in your engine from grinding together and ripping themselves apart from the friction, and it transfers heat away from the combustion cycle. Engine oil must also be able to hold in suspension all the nasty by-products of combustion like silica (silicon oxide) and acids. Finally, engine oil minimises the exposure to oxygen and thus oxidation at higher temperatures. It does all of these things under tremendous heat and pressure.

Guide to Engine Oil types

What Grade of Oil Do I Need?

Different engines all need certain types of oil to keep them going. The main difference in oils is the ‘viscosity’ or the thickness of the oil. As oils heat up, they generally get thinner. Single grade oils get too thin when hot for most modern engines which is where multigrade oil comes in. The number before the ‘W’ is the ‘cold’ viscosity rating of the oil, and the number after the ‘W’ is the ‘hot’ viscosity rating. The first number for example 5W, refers to the thickness of the engine oil during a cold start, the lower the number the better the protection. The second number ’40′ indicates the oils thickness at operating temperature.

Why Buy TOP1 Engine Oil 5W50 Fully Synthetic???

1. Fully Synthetic oil can last longer compared to mineral or semi-synthetic oils. (Need less change intervals)
2. TOP1 Oil is MADE IN USA and up to standards required by American Petroleum Standards(API)
3. 5W50 is higher grade than 5W40 stated in the comparison above. which means the benefits are much more!!!
4. Improve engine life and also fuel consumption as good engine oil give you better engine power and give me more savings on petrol spending.

RECOMMENDED to change every 7000~10,000km

Mahindra Scorpio Shock Absorbers (Monroe)

Dear Scorpio Owners,

Scorpio 2WD Petrol is using the following shock absorbers from Monroe USA

FRONT

 REAR

What are the functions of shock absorbers on your Scorpio???

A vehicle's suspension is made up of three components, the tyre, the spring and the shock absorber.

All three components need to be in good working order to keep the tyre properly in contact with the road.

The basic function of a shock absorber is to keep the vehicles tyres in contact with the road.

The shock absorber regulates the movement of the spring and is the final crucial link in ensuring a smooth and more importantly safe ride.

Even with new tyres and new brakes, unless all shock absorbers are in good working order vehicle safety is compromised because of reduced wheel contact with the road.

What does it means???

  1. With springs but no shock absorbers, the vehicle is able to absorb bumps, but the undampened suspension means that the vehicle continues to bounce and causes the tyres to leave the road.
  2. With springs and shock absorbers, the vehicle not only absorbs bumps but also the shock absorbers dampen the springs and prevent the vehicle from bouncing.
  3. Shock absorbers and coil springs are subjected to the elements like rain, dirt and salt from the roads. This can lead to corrosion and weakened performance. They should therefore be checked every 30,000km and replaced every 80,000km.
  4. If you feel like your Scorpio is "Bouncing" running on uneven roads or after going over a speed hump its is about it's end of life.
RECOMMENDED to check every 30,000km and replace if necessary!!!

Please drop me an email leemcall@hotmail.com if you are looking for shock absorbers!!!
